Solar panel live energy monitor

A green house

Baptist House recognises its impact on the environment and is committed to implementing a number of key green initiatives.

Some of our electricity is now generated by the sun. In August 2011, 190 photovoltaic solar panels were installed on the roof, with the aim of producing an estimated one million kilowatt-hours of electricity over the next 25 years. This will offset 500,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions during the same period.

We are in the process of reviewing our lighting controls, and have installed energy efficient lamps as part of an ongoing improvement plan in many parts of the building to reduce our energy consumption.

In consultation with Thames Water, we have also installed more efficient water systems in our toilets and bathrooms so that water is used as effectively as possible.

In partnership with Grundons, we recycle paper, plastic and cardboard, and our food and organic waste is also collected to advanced anaerobic digestion facilities where it is processed to generate renewable energy and heat.

Just our bit to help the environment.
